General information

Who made the RPGs?

Kuniko Takahashi from Japan. Her younger brother ZAKO2012 uploaded them on Nicovideo. Many assume she isn't real. They are short stories developed and made with a RPG Maker Program.

The RPGs themselves were developed in the late 2000s to early 2010s. A total of fifthy-one videos were posted by ZAKO2012. The later videos were translated due to quality in terms of content and interest.

Any other names?

There are one or three possible names ZAKO2012 named his uploads as in terms of translations. The first is "A Game My Lil' Sis Made". Second is "RPG Pain Made by Little Sister" The third is "My Sister Made an RPG".

The translator found these names unfitting and were translated to "Sis RPG" since the other names were too long.

Who is the translator?

vgperson on video streaming service, YouTube. She found these videos on Nicovideo and took up the mantle to translate. Twenty-seven videos were translated by her and uploaded on YouTube around 2013 and with other two videos uploaded during late 2017. She took them down around 2015-2016 and decided to reupload them in early 2017.

She's well-known for translating Vocaloid lyrics and Japanese-developed RPG Game Maker games on the web like Capella's Promise.

Common elements

RPG Game Maker

They all share the common trait of being developed with the RPG Game Maker series made by ASCII and later picked by Enterbrain. Known for the ability to create games with pre-made tools and scripts and the ability to create standard RPGs for the Windows and Linux systems and later on, Macs.

Kuniko uses RPG Maker 2003 and RPG Maker XP for Windows. Using the standard turn-based system for both and a Tohou-based top down shooter with platforming for the ones made in XP.

Deception with titles and images

She uses erotic titles and images in the title menu. They usually do not make sense in context and leave a weird and bizzare first impressions on the viewer. Throwing off many viewers completely off-guard within the first minute of viewing with many not wanting to watch. Invoking "do not judge a book by its cover".

Simple and bizzare storytelling

The storytelling she employs in her stories are bizzare. Like aliens attacking Earth or Cloud Computing being in the skies and managed by a Cloudmaster. Throwing out plot twists that come out of nowhere like Mount Rushmore having alien technology that makes the presidents come to life or cats having nine lives.

Dialouge is often repeated within the same story as a call-back while some are reused in other stories. While some are used as a plot-point and foreshadowing device. It has been compared anime and manga from viewers overseas and in it's native country.

A fun read

Sis RPGs bring a unique flavor to stories. The settings are unique and a mixture of genres like horror, adventure, romance and many more. Filled with hiliarity, lame puns and exciting plot twists await at the tip of your fingers.

Experience many enjoyable short stories written from the mind of a young Japansee woman. Witness the genres and stories become something than a regular story. Watch the many cliches get thrown out the window in mere seconds and minutes between each other. Then you realize that your feet have been sweeped off the floor at the amazing use of characters, settings and said cliches with unfitting music to boot.

Uncommon elements

Side and top-down shooters mechanics

In some of the short stories they'll have basic turn-based mechanics used as a narrative tool. In some cases the story takes a completely different change and uses Tohou-based mechanics where you have to dodge projectiles. Usually you would only have one hitpoint in most stories with this system.

The usage of it as a narrative element is used in bizzare ways. With examples such as fighting a hand or fighting a giant robot or roaches in the sky.

Reused content

With every story that Kuniko has written and made there is always something new. The characters she uses in other stories sometime appears in different ones as a protagonist, antagonist or a side character. In conjuction with reused grahpics since they come from the same software.

The settings and scenes are often reused to save time. Graphics are often reused in multiple stories inconjuction with characters. The audio such as sound effects and music are repeatedly reused to boost of the narrative. The only thing that breaks cycle is the custom assets such as animation by Kuniko.

Logic

The stories almost rarely employ a sense of logic. In most cases they're usually the plot twists, the narrative and the protagonists. Examples Thomas Jefferson's bust coming to life to stop the current president and a caveman going forward in time by deep freezing himself with 24 hours to find a cure.
